Meet Amanda

Amanda Gore
For as long as I can remember I have been talking! A lifelong friend of mine used to call me motor mouth when I was in my teens! Little did he know it was prophetic! LOL I studied physiotherapy and psychology after school and practiced for a few years, then taught at University before... Read more

It seems to me that most people in our society want more time, energy and vitality and excitement in their relationships.   These are all aspects of wellness. Read more

I love this story - it's such a great reminder at this busy time of the year to stop and be conscious of what we are doing!

The lead up to Christmas is so often incredibly rushed and busy and full of social events in between working and shopping and wrapping and cooking!  The best Christmas present you can ever give is of your time and love!  Read more

Thought Viruses

The Joy Project

Robert Dilts is a well known American expert in neurolinguistics and writes frequently for a magazine called Anchor Point. In a past edition he was discussing the connection between beliefs and health or wellness. He introduced the concept of 'thought viruses'. What a fantastic way of describing one of the most powerful mechanisms of illness or recovery. Read more

A while ago I was lucky enough to meet and chat with Stuart Moore - an author and expert on how to make money work for you. Discussing people's pasts, he commented on the value of having someone in your life who 'does something for you without keeping a score'.

A person who is happy to help you; guide you or set you on the right path and expects nothing in return.  They don't think in terms of 'reward', or expecting you to reciprocate. Their joy is in seeing you prosper, grow or develop.  Read more

energy suckers

The Joy Project

How many times have you woken up in the morning and felt great- or at least good. Well, what about had some energy? And you go out into the world and encounter someone. After five minutes with this person, you walk away with drooping shoulders, feeling drained and depressed, muttering "gees, I feel crook."!

These people are energy suckers!  And are dangerous for our health!  If you are married to one - seek a divorce! Serious - you'll live longer. (Well, OK, I say that a bit tongue in cheek!  If you are with a recovering energy sucker then give them a second chance!)    Read more

Once upon a time, I was speaking at a conference in my favourite wellness resort (The Hyatt at Coolum) and to my delight one of the other speakers was Billy Graham. No - not the long dead evangelist! But close! This Billy is from New Zealand, an ex-boxing New Zealand and Australasian title holder and one of the most fascinating people - and dynamic speakers - I have met. Read more

It seems to me that there are people who recharge different aspects of soul/spirit. Think of the people who make you feel calm; or happy; or excited; or renewed; or motivated; Or drained; depressed; down. What do they have in common? What quality or qualities do they have that generates that feeling in you?

The Joy Project

Earlier this week, Sheryl and I had the honour of meeting Lars Olsen who is an extraordinary man.

Young man! He at about 27 is CEO and Founder of The Forget Me Not Children's Home in Nepal with dreams to build a much larger community.

Appalled by his experiences as a volunteer in between semesters at University he decided to truly make a difference to the little girls he met in the orphanages in Nepal. And so began the journey of Forget Me Not.  Read more

Problems and Gifts

The Joy Project

If you haven't read "Illusions" by Richard Bach, then race out today and buy it! It is a fantastic little handbook on life and contains some great quotes.

The one that caught my eye was "There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in it’s hands.  You seek problems because you need their gifts". Now, some people may see that as new age mumbo jumbo, and even if you do, it's still a useful alternative way of thinking about problems. Read more
